Mental and Behavioural Health Services

  • Mental Health Consultation

With his warm and empathetic nature, Dr Steven Lu uses a respectful and down-to-earth style when approaching each patient.

His treatment plans are tailored to each individual patient’s needs, using evidence-based strategies such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and interpersonal therapy (ITP).

Dr Lu sees each individual through both his ‘doctor’ and ‘therapist’ lens to holistically address possible medical issues contributing to mental health challenges, as well as to prescribe medications where necessary.

Please note: Mental health care plans are not available on the first consultation.

  • Psychotherapy Session

Mental health support and treatment through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and other evidenced based Focused Psychological Strategies.

You will need a Mental Health Care Plan to be eligible for a Medicare rebate. A mental health care plan is a plan outlining your mental health condition, and suggested treatment and goals. It is typically created by your own GP prior to starting therapy sessions. If you do not have a regular GP, Dr Lu can create a mental health care plan for you after your initial mental health consultation.

  • Smoking Cessation Consultation

Quitting smoking is often very challenging, and the right help can make all the difference. Even if you are not quite ready to quit yet, we can get the conversation started.

Every smoker lives a different life, and with a holistic approach to behavoural health, Dr Steven Lu will provide individualised support to help you kick the habit.

Quitting smoking has significant and immediate health benefits for men and women of all ages. The sooner you quit, the greater the benefits.

People who quit smoking before age 50 reduce their risk of dying over the next 15 years by one-half, as compared with those who continue to smoke.
